Welcome to Space Camp! Since opening in 1982, Space Camp has provided a unique, hands-on, STEM experience for students of all ages to train like astronauts! Space Camp is a place for learning, growing and having fun, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Our History
Our story began when Dr. Wernher von Braun and his rocket team first came to the United States in 1945 under military contract to create ballistic rockets. They were sent to Fort Bliss, Texas to work on rocket development, but after inspecting the Redstone facilities in Huntsville which had been used during World War II for the production of pyrotechnical devices, they deemed it a better location and proposed a guided missile center.

Scholarships
Scholarships are available for Space Camp programs for weeklong youth programs as well as Alabama Educators . Applicants for youth weeklong programs must be age 9 - 18 and in grades 4 through 12.

Space Camp Hall of Fame
The Space Camp Hall of Fame includes graduates who have distinguished themselves in their respective careers and friends of the Center who have made considerable contributions of personal time, effort or resources to further the goals of the Space Camp programs. Members exhibit leadership among the globe-spanning Space Camp alumni community of more than 850,000, providing guidance and encouragement for alumni to continue to support the Space Camp mission.

Space Camp Store
We offer a wide variety of items and official Space Camp gear to help make packing easier and delight your camper throughout their stay. Items range from necessities like bug spray and sunscreen to t-shirt packs that provide a Space Camp t-shirt for every day of the week at camp. We also offer fun items like an exclusive Space Camp pillowcase that can be signed by your camper’s bunkmates, delicious snack packs, care packages to send a little love to your camper while they are at camp.
